Stainless Steel Grades We Work With

SS304 & SS304L — General Purpose

The most widely used stainless steel grade. SS304 offers excellent corrosion resistance for general process piping, utility piping, and architectural applications. Contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The "L" variant (SS304L) has lower carbon content for improved weldability. Suitable for water, air, mild chemicals, and food-contact applications where chloride exposure is minimal.

SS316L — Premium Grade

The gold standard for critical applications. SS316L adds 2-3% molybdenum to the 304 composition, providing significantly better resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Essential in the Gulf region where coastal humidity and chloride-laden atmospheres attack standard stainless steel. Required by code for pharmaceutical (ASME BPE), food-grade (3-A Sanitary), and hydrogen (ASME B31.12) piping systems.

Duplex 2205 — High Strength

Duplex 2205 has a mixed austenitic-ferritic microstructure that delivers roughly twice the yield strength of SS316L with superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking. This means you can use thinner wall pipe for the same pressure rating — saving material cost and reducing weight. Ideal for seawater cooling systems, desalination plants, chemical processing, and high-pressure applications in the UAE and Qatar.

Super Duplex 2507 — Extreme Service

When standard Duplex isn't enough. Super Duplex 2507 offers the highest strength and corrosion resistance in the stainless family — with a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) above 40. Used in offshore platforms, subsea applications, concentrated acid service, and anywhere that demands the absolute best corrosion performance. We have qualified welding procedures (WPS) for this demanding material.

Pharmaceutical & Biotech

ASME BPE compliant SS316L piping for Water-for-Injection (WFI), Purified Water (PW), Clean Steam, CIP/SIP circuits, and process piping. Orbital welded with borescope inspection. Electropolished to Ra ≤ 0.5 µm internal surface finish. Fully passivated with citric acid per ASTM A967.

Food & Beverage Processing

3-A Sanitary and EHEDG compliant piping for dairy processing, breweries, beverage plants, edible oil processing, and bakery systems. Tri-Clamp connections, CIP-cleanable weld joints, and HACCP documentation. SS316L as standard for all food-contact surfaces.

Chemical & Petrochemical

Process piping for acids, alkalis, solvents, and reactive chemicals. Material selection based on NACE MR0175 for sour service and chemical compatibility analysis.   • Material Procurement: Direct sourcing from approved mills with full MTR (Mill Test Reports) — EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification for every heat lot
  • Shop Fabrication: CNC pipe cutting, precision beveling, spool fabrication to isometric drawings, and dimensional inspection before dispatch
  • Welding: Orbital welding (automated TIG) for critical applications, manual TIG for field joints, with 100% argon purge on all stainless welds
  • Post-Weld Treatment: Pickling (acid cleaning to remove heat tint and free iron) followed by passivation (chromium oxide restoration) per ASTM A380/A967
  • Quality Control: Visual inspection, dye penetrant testing (DPT), radiographic testing (RT), ferrite content testing (for Duplex), and dimensional verification

Stainless Steel Piping Questions

What is the difference between SS304 and SS316L?

SS316L has added molybdenum for superior chloride corrosion resistance — essential in the Gulf's coastal environment. The "L" means low carbon, improving weldability and post-weld corrosion resistance. SS304 is suitable for general-purpose piping where chloride exposure is low.

Why is passivation important for stainless steel piping?

Passivation removes free iron from the surface and restores the protective chromium oxide layer. Without it, newly fabricated stainless piping can rust at weld zones — especially in the humid Gulf climate. We passivate all piping after fabrication per ASTM A967.

What is Duplex stainless steel and when should I use it?

Duplex (2205) has double the yield strength of SS316L with superior stress corrosion cracking resistance. Use it for high-pressure systems, seawater service, desalination, and chemical processing. It costs more but saves through thinner wall thickness.

Can you fabricate piping spools in your workshop?

Yes. We have CNC cutting, beveling, orbital/manual TIG welding, and pickling/passivation facilities. We fabricate spools to isometric drawings with full QC inspection before shipping to site — maximizing quality and reducing field work time.

What surface finish options do you offer?

Mill finish (standard), mechanical polish (Ra 0.8-1.6 µm), electropolish (Ra ≤ 0.5 µm for pharma/semiconductor), and bead-blasted. All finishing is documented with measured Ra values per ASME BPE requirements.
